Scientific name: Colisa lalia
Origin: The Ganges delta in India
Size: The Dwarf Gourami can reach a size of 10 cm / 4 inches
Colour: This fish comes in many different colour variants, including red, blue and yellow.
Temperament: The Dwarf Gourami is peaceful and should not be kept with aggressive species.
Care: Keep your Dwarf Gourami in a well planted tank and include floating plants in the setup. Avoid vigorous circulation.
Water conditions: It is important to keep the amount if nitrite down. The pH should be from 6.0 to 8.0. The ideal temperature is 25-28° C / 77-82° F.
Feeding: The Dwarf Gourami will usually accept flake food, and you can vary its diet by sometimes including mosquito larvae, daphnia or similar.
Gender: The females are grey and camouflaged, while the males display vibrant colours.
Breeding: The male will build a bubblenest and protect the offspring. The female does not guard the eggs, and if she approaches the nest the male will chase her away.
